Things to do...

Today we will be filming more footage at the bar. We are going to try to find a new location for Beth (rapper). This will hopefully be her lying on the snooker table. If not we have to film again on the sofa. As it will be hard to find a man at this late hour we will have her by herself. This will connote she is independent and doesn't need a man which is the whole ideology of the band. If she can be on the snooker table it suggests her playful fun side and as snooker is quite a masculine thing, it suggests she is a strong woman.

Limousine filming

We shot in the limousine and filmed really good footage. However, when putting it on to the mac we realised that you could see through the windows however when filming it was blacked out on the video camera. Hopefully there will be an editing technique so we can make the windows darker.

We decided we need to go back to the bar to film more of the song in individual shots.

First filming!

On Monday 14th November it was our first filming in the bar. Sadly, one of the men let us down so we had to try and improvise and work with two. Therefore, we decided that two girls will have one each and then the girl that raps will have both to show the more dominating characteristics as the rap tends to be more masucline. We did not get to have our female gaze by having a half naked guy.

The footage was really good but some shots were dark as the spotlight blew up on us. We may go back to the bar to film a little more footage.

Logo

We made this logo in photoshop. We wanted to capture the essence of the band by including the sophistication of the italic writing with the feisty leopard print. We added diamonds around the border for the glam impact.
We chose to stick to the black and white and red for sophistication again however, add an extra boldness by using the leopard print as it stands out just like the band themselves.

Plan of action

We need to start filming next week and take in to consideration that we are saving the limousine element towards the end of the video.
We also need to take photos when filming as these will be used for our digipack and poster. Production Sheet

Feedback from our Pitch

:     2/6 responses said that our music video definitely has potential

: 4/6 said that our music video is on the way to Box Office
                                                                          success.

The elements that work are:
- Good locations and settings
- Image ideology and costume ideas
- Structure of the video as the audience should keep interest
- Use of Goodwin's conventions
- Good animatic
- Good ideas
- Clear target audience
- Good girl band

Things that need developing are:
- To consider saving one of the elements for later on the video so it keeps the audience interested still.
- People in the bar as needs to create an atmosphere
- What will happen in the rapping?
- record label

Things that do not work are:
N/A

I feel happy that we got really positive feedback about our video. We are glad that people understood our girl band and their ideology and liked them also. We are happy also that they picked up on our motif of costume and keeping our band sexy and sophisticated at the same time. We both agree that we should save an element towards the end and decided that keeping the limousine would be exciting to keep until near the end or when one of them starts to rap.
However, the reason why we do not want people in the bar is because there are a lot of shots and intimate shots just of the girls and the guys they are with. In the rapping part, the beat is very fast so when filming we will have to keep still shots and close ups of the rapper therefore the cuts will be fast also. We made it very clear in our pitch who the record label is (Sony BMG) as a mainstream record label is right for our mainstream band.
